Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones was born in Poole in England. Encouraged by a musical family from Northern Ireland, he took up the Bouzouki at the age of sixteen. He currently resides in Edinburgh. With over ten years as a professional musician under his belt, Aaron has earned invaluable gig and recording experience. He has toured worldwide with artists such as Craobh Rua, Seelyhoo, The Sandy Brechin Band, Iron Horse, Keep It Up, Burach, Tabache, Leo McCann, Dibidil, Davy Steele, Claire Mann and Urbn Ri.

He has performed onstage with the various artists which include The Boys of the Lough, The Moving Cloud, Eamon Coyne, Flook, Phil Cunningham, Aly Bain, Michael McGoldrick, Deaf Shepherd, Fred Morrison and Carlos Nunez and has made numerous TV and Radio appearances worldwide. Aaron was recently official accompanist at the prestigeous BBC Scottish Young Traditonal Musician Awards 2003 at the 10th Anniversary Celtic Connections festival in the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow. After accompanying the winning competitor Aaron was asked back as an accompanist for the 2004 competition.

As well as being a founding partner in www.tradmusic.com, Aaron is currently writing and researching 'The Bouzouki Book', a definitive historical and instructional book for the instrument. He has recorded on numerous traditional CD's and continues to work with some of the biggest names in traditional music, both as a performer, and recently, as a producer. Recent projects have included recording CD's for fiddler Tom McConville, three time National Scottish Fiddle Champion Alistair McCulloch, a Highland Piping CD featuring Finlay Macdonald, Chris Armstrong and Simon McKerrel and the debut solo CD by vocalist Annie Grace (formerly with The Iron Horse). Aaron has also recently joined the fantastic Scottish band Old Blind Dogs. He is currently touring as part of a duo with Claire Mann with whom he plays Bouzouki, Guitar and Vocals. They are planning to record and release a new CD early in 2004.
