The Search for Common Ground

At Common Ground Scotland, the dialogue will build on the dialogue in America. Time, place and circumstance will influence our conversations.

'From a Distance'

Common Ground on the Hill, Scotland, will allow people from America to view some of their issues 'from a distance'. You gain a greater appreciation of your own culture when you experience another. Common Ground on the Hill, Scotland will add another dimension to their dialogue by a sharing of yet more cultural diversity and by the addition of 'new voices'. There will be opportunities to teach others, through a sharing of experiences - and by teaching to learn. It may seem as if the issues are different yet we may well find that underneath they are the same.

FROM A DISTANCE

From a distance the world looks blue and green
and the snow capped mountains white,
From a distance the ocean meets the stream
and the eagle takes to flight,

From a distance there is harmony
and it echoes through the land
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of everyman.

From a distance we all have enough
and no one is in need,
There are no guns, no bombs, no disease
and no hungry mouths to feed,
From a distance we are all instruments
marching in a common band,
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace,
they're the songs of everyman.

God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance

From a distance you look like my friend
even though we are at war,
From a distance I can't comprehend
what all this war is for,
And from a distance there is harmony
and it echoes through the land,
It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of everyman.

God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance
