In Search of Common
Ground Duration: Single period. This flagship course in the curriculum will seek dialogue and common ground on issues that effect us as artists and members of the human race. "From our experiences as artists and human beings, we will have a dialogue arising from our life together here at Commn Ground on the Hill Scotland and in the larger society. In an atmosphere of trust and safety and inspired by song and story, we will listen to and learn from one another. We will attempt to aswer such questions as: What are the artistic and political forces that create prejudice and tolerance? Is racism a virus, ignorance, a social construction, or a combination of all of the above? How do class issues determine our perceptions of each other? How can we retain our ethnic identity and achieve human community? This flagship course in the curriculum will help us, by way of your participation and ability to risk, to seek common ground in this difficult 21st Century. The class will be led by Lea Gilmore and Walt Michael from Common Ground on the Hill USA, and joined by other UK artists." More information on the tutors: |
